To receive the most benefit from your personalised program, 6 sessions are required with each session tailored to progress you through the various levels of each exercise.

Homework will be provided at the end of each session and reviewed in your following visit. To maximise your session time and receive the best outcomes for your dog, it is expected that a level of commitment to completing the homework on a regular basis and prior to your next session is maintained.

The initial consultation includes a gait video, photographs, measurements, Range of Motion checks, functional movement assessment, weight check. I will discuss what goals you are hoping to achieve through Canine Conditioning. I will have a look at your dog’s posture and ascertain if you or your dog has any previous conditioning training experience. Depending on your level of experience I may also give you some basic exercises to practice before your next session. From the information I have gathered, I will put together a report of my findings, which will include the gait video and photographs and construct a conditioning plan to help you achieve your goals. Some goals will be achievable within a 6 session conditioning plan and some goals will be longer term or will require a maintenance plan moving forward.

All sessions which include Hydrotherapy require a vet referral. FAQ

If your dog is healthy and sound you do not need a vet referral for Canine Conditioning. However, if after the initial consultation I find any areas of concern, you will be referred back to your vet before a conditioning program can commence. I will provide you with a report of my findings to give to your vet. If your dog is recovering from surgery or injury, has a heart condition, diabetes, arthritis or is compromised in any other way, you will require a vet referral before commencing a conditioning program.

Improved Strength and Endurance
Helps dogs build muscle strength, enhancing their stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks or sports over time. This is particularly beneficial for working dogs or those involved in dog sports such as agility & flyball

Injury Prevention
A well-rounded conditioning program can strengthen muscles, tendons, and ligaments, which helps to reduce the risk of injury. It also promotes proper body mechanics, which can help dogs avoid stress on joints and muscles, lowering the likelihood of strains or overuse injuries.

Weight Management
Conditioning exercises often include cardiovascular components that help maintain a healthy weight. Regular physical activity can prevent obesity and related health issues, such as joint problems and heart disease.

Rehabilitation
For dogs recovering from injury or surgery, a conditioning program can play a key role in rehabilitation. It can help regain strength, improve mobility, and speed up recovery through gradual, controlled exercises.

Increased Flexibility
Stretching and mobility exercises included in a conditioning program can help improve a dog’s flexibility and range of motion, which can be especially beneficial for senior dogs or dogs with arthritis.

Mental Stimulation
Engaging in new physical challenges and exercises helps keep a dog mentally stimulated. This can help prevent boredom and reduce the likelihood of destructive behaviors associated with lack of mental engagement.

Better Coordination and Balance
Canine conditioning often includes exercises that target balance and coordination, which are important for dogs involved in sports or those recovering from injury. Improved coordination also helps dogs navigate their environment more safely.

Enhanced Performance
For dogs in sports (such as flybal, agility, herding, or search and rescue), a conditioning program can improve their speed, performance, and ability to work at their best during competitions or daily tasks.

Boosted Confidence
Dogs that are physically fit and strong may show greater confidence in their abilities. This is especially important for dogs involved in high-performance tasks or for dogs that may have been previously insecure or fearful due to injury or physical limitations.

Better Long-Term Health
Long-term participation in a canine conditioning program can improve overall health and longevity. A healthy, fit dog is less prone to chronic health issues, such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes.

Yes, a Canine Conditioning Program can be particularly beneficial for dogs who are nervous or lack confidence. Here’s how conditioning can make a positive impact:

  • Building Physical Confidence
  • Positive Reinforcement and Motivation
  • Reduced Anxiety
  • Building Trust and Bonding
  • Desensitization to New Experiences
  • Focus and Mental Engagement
  • Improved Socialisation
  • Calming Routine
  • Encouraging Positive Behavioural Changes
  • A Sense of Achievement
In summary, a Canine Conditioning Program can be a valuable tool for helping nervous or low-confidence dogs feel more secure, capable, and at ease in their daily lives. The physical and emotional benefits of conditioning can help these dogs overcome their fears and lead to a more confident, well-rounded personality.
